Overture acquires Fast

Posted: April 22, 2003

Not too long ago, Overture bought Alta Vista.

Now they’ve announced they’re purchasing Fast for $70 million.

Why do they need Fast after just buying Alta Vista? Good question. Are they trying to buy up more distribution properties; do they need more search technology; or do they just have enough money that they might as well own something?

It could always be about the patents as well - one of the leading reasons acquisitions which seem a bit odd are actually a great idea.

Wait and see, there are really big things in Overture’s future.
