Engineering Marketing

Posted: December 12, 2002

In a certain sense, engineers have truly made the modern world possible. Without the hard work of engineers, the dreamers in every society would be left to dream. But when the first person said that a man could land on the moon, or that a building could reach as high as mountains, there was always an engineer on hand to make sure that it did, in fact, happen.

In many cases, it is the designer or architect who gets all the credit for a finished building, bridge, or product, but underneath the grandiosity, it is the engineer’s work that holds the things we see together.

In fact, engineering marketing can be an extremely difficult thing to accomplish. Marketing experts agree that because of its ordinarily low-profile nature, engineering is usually very “low visibility” in terms of its advertising.

But this does not have to necessarily be so. Engineering firms can find lots of unique ways of marketing themselves, but none are more effective than online, search-based advertising.

The modern world is so much run by computers that it is hard to believe that only 25 years ago computers were the sole domain of hobbyists and government officials. But the truth of the matter is that today over 100 million people in the United States alone use their computers, and while on those computers they all perform online searches.

Tapping into the power of the online search is now as easy as hooking your engineering firm onto a top vertical. This form of targeted advertising guarantees that only the people most likely to be interested in your services will see your ad.

Engineering marketing has now come out of the dark. Expanding your firm with the power of the online search will allow you to expand beyond your current size with added clients and increased capabilities.

No matter what field of engineering you are in, marketing your products and services is now easier than ever. Online, search-based advertising is a growing field, and a very effective one at that.

Placing your ad where the most customers will see it is one of the oldest rules of marketing, and now that computers and the Internet are so ubiquitous, it is a rule that has never seemed more prudent.

Engineers around the United States and the World should begin to step out of the shadows and accept some of the rewards and accolades that are rightfully theirs. With online advertising, engineers can become highly visible members of the community, and their achievements will no longer go unrecognized.
