The local search market continues to heat up between Yahoo and Google.

Google AdWords has the edge in allowsing advertisers to target locally.
However, from a users perspective, yahoo local is a much more robust property with many more features than google local.

This acquisition should help Yahoo further bolster their local search presence. It will be interesting to see how they leverage the technology from an advertisers perspective.
